Virtual Server and DMZ
Select Standard Settings > Network Settings > Virtual Server and DMZ to configure
virtual server and DMZ . You can set up a virtual server on your LAN and deploy DMZ
(De-militarized zone) for security reasons. Consult your local dealer for detailed
settings.
In the computer network, the purpose of a DMZ is to add an additional layer of security to
an organization's Local Area Network (LAN) to prevent the external attacker from direct
access to the Server containing the company’s sensitive information. The users on the
Internet are only allowed to access the equipment in the DMZ, rather than the whole of
the network. In the general DMZ, the corporate websites allow the external users to
search and use the corporate resources, but the internal confidential information is not
publicly accessible. Therefore, even if any hi-hacker attacks the DMZ to send the
company’s website into a catastrophic situation, the important information of the
company will still be protected, and will not be exposed.
Click the
On or Off button to enable or disable the virtual server and DMZ. Select
Virtual Server and click Settings to bring up the Virtual Server page if you plan to
direct the selected service ports to a specified virtual IP. In the Connection Port field
and LAN port field, enter the respective service port numbers. Enter a specified virtual
IP address in LAN IP address and click Add to confirm the setting. For example, to set
up a host (IP:192.168.0.5) in the internal network to enable external PC access, enter
TCP 5631 and UDP 5632 in the
Connection Port field. The function of the Virtual Server
is to direct specific service ports to a specified virtual IP address while the function of
DMZ is to direct all service ports to a specified virtual IP address.
Select
DMZ if you want to direct all services ports to a specified virtual IP address. Enter
the virtual IP address and click OK to confirm.
