Envelope Specifications

Envelopes whose characteristics fall outside of these construction guidelines must be evaluated by 
testing of customer samples. 

Primary Envelope Requirements

 The Epic system processes the following types of envelopes:

Executive envelopes 

(to achieve maximum productivity, truncated flap is recommended)

Diagonal cut envelopes

 

l

Side seam envelopes

 

l

McIntyre side seam envelopes 

(if examined and approved by Pitney Bowes)

Envelope Guidelines

 

l

All seams should be securely bonded to the bottom flap without exhibiting any curl or ripple 
between the flaps.

 

l

Envelope curl or twist should not exceed .25" (6.4 mm) when the envelope is placed on a flat 
surface.

 

l

The envelope throat should be a maximum of .25" (6.4 mm) below the crease line at .75" (19 mm) 
from the side edges.
