■
Communication Protocol
1. Be sure to attach an “SX” code at the start of communications and an “EX” code at the end. The VCR does
not accept the command without these codes.
2. The VCR only transmits a reply to the received command.
3. When the VCR receives one of the remote control commands shown on page 25, it returns the status for
reception acknowledgment or the status requested currently.
4. If the commands are transmitted consecutively or another command is transmitted before the VCR has
ended an operation, the VCR returns the “SX”BUSY”EX” code. Re-transmit the command.
5. If there is a mistake in the received communications format, the VCR returns one of the following commu-
nication error codes.
•
ERL:
Error in code length
•
ERC:
Error in code format
•
ERT:
Error inside the VCR (when return is not possible within about 2 seconds)
6. When the VCR detects a communications error such as a stop bit error, bit length error, etc., it replaces the
received byte with “!” for processing.
∗
If a communications error occurs in the OSD display data, the OSD character is replaced with “!”. If a
communications error occurs in data other than the above, a communications error code is returned.
