According to the German taw on safe machine opera t ion of 24-6-86, the VDE-regulations are regarded
as the official rules in electronics and are the basis for the regulations for testing electrical safety
of
technical d e v ices . The required electrical tests are established in the regulations for repair. modifica­
tion and testing of used electrical appliances (VDE 0701 issue 10.86) par.

We are obliged to perform a test in accordance with VDE
0701
on every electrical appliance after
repair. In European foreign countries, there are similar regulations in force which are largely identical
with the requirements of the
0701.

with ABB Metrawatt M 5013
I) Mains voltage

e For all following tests insert plug of ABB Metrawatt M 5013 in the grounded mains socket.
e Set knob for measuring range at "250

Touch contact field, which is located a bit to the right just below the knob for the measuring range,
with your finger, thus checking the ground lead of the mains. Signal lamp "PE" just above the
contact field

light up only In case the ground lead Is out of order.

Insert plug of sewing machine Into the mains socket of

Metrawatt M
5013.

Run the machine.
e Meter reading: 230 V +/- 10%
e Measuring appliance M 5013 can only be used with mains voltages from 207 V to 253 V
(230 V +/- 10%).

the remark "Insulation resistance higher than 20 M Ohm" must be recorded in the testing certificate.
