Engine Oil and Filter - Change

Typical example
1.
Remove the drain plug (2) and allow the oil to
drain.
2.
After the oil has drained, the drain plug should be
cleaned and installed. Install a new O ring seal
(1) onto the drain plug.
3.
Install the drain plug and tighten to 68 N·m
(50 lb ft).

Use a suitable container in order to catch the oil
that will drain from the
fi
lter. Ensure that the
fi
lter
assembly is clean and free from dirt.
1.
Using a suitable tool remove the oil
fi
lter (2).
Note:
Ensure that the sealing faces is clean.
2.
Lubricate the O ring seal (1) on the new oil
fi
lter
with clean engine oil. Spin on the new oil
fi
lter until
the O ring seal contacts the sealing face, then turn
the oil
fi
lter ¾ of a turn.
Fill the Oil Pan
1.
Remove the oil
fi
ller cap. Refer to this
Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Fluid
Recommendations” for more information on
suitable oils. Fill the oil pan with the correct
amount of new engine lubricating oil. Refer
to this Operation and Maintenance Manual,
“Re
fi
ll Capacities” for more information on re
fi
ll
capacities.
2.
Start the engine and operate the engine without
load for approximately 2 minutes, in order to allow
the oil to
fi
ll the oil
fi
lter. Check that the oil pressure
is correct and check for oil leaks. Stop the engine
and allow the oil to drain back to the oil pan for
10 minutes.
Note:
Ensure that the crankcase is not over full.
3.
Check the engine oil level and add oil as
necessary. Replace the
fi
ller cap and start the
engine.

NOTICE
Changing the engine oil and oil
fi
lter for both types
of engine are the same, but the Maintenance inter-
val for both engines are different.
The maintenance interval for the 1606D engine is
400 hours.
