8. CALIBRATION AND COMPENSATION
8.1 Calibration
This chapter gives information relating to the calibration and compensation of the ICC-2000 (it is
not necessary to calibrate the IAM).
It is not necessary to calibrate the thermometer, because the temperature measurement is a
self-calibrating system.
8.1.1 Calibrating the pressure sensor
The pressure sensor should be regularly calibrated.
The CO
2
formula uses an absolute pressure. This implies that the pressure measurement
follows the air pressure fluctuations and that these changes must be taken into consideration
during inspection and calibration (for example, a height difference).
The air pressure for the last calibration is saved under the ‘Patm’ parameter (atmospheric
pressure).
During the calibration, the pressure unit (bar/psi) determines the various messages given on the
display and the indications of the accuracy. A distinction is made between the two pressure
units (bar/psi) in the description of the calibration procedure.
A precision pressure gauge such as the Haffmans Gauge Calibration Device (GCD) can be
used for the calibration. The accuracy of this pressure gauge must be better than

0.02 bar or

0.3 psi.
Attention!
The pressure sensor should be pressureless at the start of the
calibration procedure (the needle must be free and the needle valve
must be fully open).
The calibration of the pressure sensor consists of four different steps:

Reaching the calibration menu

Setting the atmospheric pressure

Setting the low pressure

Setting the high pressure
8.1.2 Reaching the calibration menu
To reach the ‘CALIBRATION’ menu, press the ‘START’ button for 3 seconds. You will then
enter the main menu. Press the ‘

’ button once and then press ‘START’. You will now be in the
‘CALIBRATION’ menu.
