OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT: To prevent falls or injury, place the scale securely far from the edge of the
counter, table or other flat surface used to hold the scale. Do not let the scale touch the
wall or any other object near or around the scale while it is in use.

Weighing a Patient

1.  Make sure there is nothing on the tray.
2.  Press the

ON/OFF

button to turn on the scale

. “88:8:8.8” followed by “0.0” will appear on the

display.

3.  Place the baby on the scale so that its weight is evenly distributed on the tray. The scale will

begin to display weight information and will lock on the patient’s weight when the stable
weight of the patient is determined.  Depending on the movement of the patient on the scale,
it may take several seconds for the scale to lock onto the weight.

4.  When a stable weight is calculated, a small ring

along with the word “HOLD” will appear on

the display and the weight of the baby will lock.

4.  Note:

If the display shows “OVER” you have exceeded the capacity of the scale.

(553KL:44 lb / 20 kg; 553KG: 20 kg)

Caution: To prevent patient injury, the patient must be attended throughout the entire
weighing event.

5.

Remove the baby from the scale. The scale will continue to display the baby’s weight.

6.  To return the scale to 0.0, press the

RELEASE

button and the scale will be ready to weigh

again.

Note:

If “Lo” appears on the display, it indicates that the battery power is low. It does NOT

indicate a problem with the weight measurement.

Note:

If Auto Off is enabled the scale will not power off if a weight is held on the display.

Press the

RELEASE

button to release the weight and allow the scale to power off

automatically.
