Touch io Instruction Manual
I’m an administrator (anyone with an Integrator, Admin, or Manager permission role) and need to know if
we can add more readers to our organization after the initial installation? What do my users need to do to
use new readers?

Simply install and enroll new readers in your existing organization. The current users must either have
or need to be given permission to access those doors.
As an administrator (anyone with an Integrator, Admin, or Manager permission role), we have an area in
our company that only certain employees are allowed to access. How do I set that up using a touch io
reader?

The same way as any other reader by setting up access levels and rights in the access control panel.
Remember,
touch io is a Wiegand-based reader not an access control system.
Will the touch App work with other devices like tablets?

Yes. The touch App can be loaded and function on most mobile devices such as Apple - and
Android -based tablets as well as smartphones as long as they are running compatible operating systems.
NOTE : Multiple smart devices may be added to access the touch io door controllers; the same
credential invitation, however, cannot be used for accepting another device. An additional
credential must be sent to a user and accepted in order to add an additional device.
Some users have to present their phones to the readers, others can keep their phones in their pockets or
purse and just touch the reader to gain access. Users who have to present want the same ability to leave
their phones in their pockets. Can I simply boost the range of the reader to a higher level?

Boosting the range for the users that have to present their phones to the reader will extend the range
even father for users who can currently keep their phones in their pockets. This could pose a security
risk of inadvertent entry from a distance or from inside the building. As a general rule, we strongly
recommend keeping the Bluetooth Low Energy signal reception strength set to the minimal level,
requiring users to present their mobile device to the reader in order to request access for the highest
security level possible, which allows the majority of phones to function with the reader.
Known Issues
To restart and get the pdk touch App working again after performing the touch io firmware update, simply
tap on the pdk touch App at its usual location in your device’s app screen.
