Touch io Instruction Manual
Do I have to present my phone to the reader to enter a door?
●
The allowed distance (range) between reader and mobile device is configurable in the
touch io
The
can be restricted such that a user must present the mobile device in close proximity to the
reader or at some further distance. The range setting can be set to allow the user to simply touch their
hand to the reader and leave the mobile device in their pocket or purse when requesting access.
●
We strongly recommend that, in most cases, the Bluetooth range settings of the readers be set to the
shortest range possible for the highest level of security.
How do I receive Bluetooth credentials to a building?
●
An
will be received from your facility manager or anyone with
permission roles (also known as an administrator) to download the mobile application and mobile
credential. Select the link and follow each step to successfully download the app and accept the
credential.
As an administrator (anyone with an Integrator, Admin, or Manager role), how do I issue / modify / revoke
mobile credentials to users?
●
Access control is done through a simple web-based
that allows them to manage access of any
user’s credential. Issuance, modification, and revocation take effect immediately on the user’s mobile
device.
Does the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection required for the mobile credential still work if the
mobile device is already actively using Bluetooth connectivity on another application?
●
Yes. Having the mobile device on a classic Bluetooth connection (streaming music or a wireless phone
call) does not interfere with reader access.
Concerning potential issues of privacy, what is the need for Location services when managing touch io
readers?
●
For devices with Android 6.0 and above, installers will
need
to have location enabled on Android 6.0+ in
order to configure reader settings. Installers are the
only
individuals that need to have the location
permission granted in order to do BLE scanning; location services don’t need to be enabled in order to
scan for readers. Regular end-users don’t need that location permission enabled since their devices only
need to use BLE notification.
NOTE
:
Location services nor location data are used in the touch io application
; the location
permission is only used to access the BLE scanning APIs (Application Program Interfaces) which
is required by the smart device operating system.
How does the touch io and credential work?
