The
PAULSON Heat Reflective Quick View Shield
protects against molten metal and hot solids as per
EN 166:2001, Clause 7.2.3.
4. Description
The
PAULSON Heat Reflective Quick View Shield
kit consists of a short face shield with hinges to be
mounted to a PAULSON Cap Bracket for slotted caps (CB2-HD, CB2-HD-CT (Euro Clip)) or a PAULSON
Cap Bracket for slotted and un-slotted caps (CB6-HD). These brackets are designed to keep another,
typically larger face shield (Base Shield) underneath, providing full protection for eyes and partly the face
when completely assembled with all components. For all possible combinations see Chapter 7.
5. Assembly Instructions
General
:
Mount the
PAULSON Heat Reflective Quick View Shield
with a PAULSON Cap Bracket only to a helmet
that is approved for high heat protection at the maximum expected level. In case of any doubt, contact your
helmet manufacturer.
Installation at Slotted Caps
For helmets with the European accessory slot type select the PAULSON Cap Bracket CB2-HD-CT, for
most other accessory slot types select the PAULSON Cap Bracket CB2-HD. Contact PAULSON for
further slot types. Insert the black adapters (snap-in blades) of the cap bracket into the accessory slots at
the sides of the helmet. There will be an audible click when the black adapter is fully seated into the slot
of the helmet.
Installation at slotted or non-slotted Caps
Center the
PAULSON Cap Bracket CB6-HD
on the front of the helmet placing the front brim into the
groove of the cap bracket; pull the elastomeric band over the top of the shell. Assure cap bracket is
centered and has captured the helmet brim for a secure fit.
Installation of the windows
The windows (Quick View Shield, Base Shield) can be mounted or unmounted at any time.
Mounting the Base Shield: Fit the upper slots at the top edge of the shield over the cam locks and turn the
cam locks into a vertical position for a secure fit.
Mounting the Quick View Shield: Unscrew the pivot screws and remember the sequence and orientation
of the components. Place the Quick View hinge at the outer side of the bracket and turn in the pivot
screws.
6. Usage
Always check the
PAULSON Heat Reflective Quick View Shield
assembly components before use. Make
sure the
PAULSON Heat Reflective Quick View Shield
and, if mounted, the Base Shield is securely
fastened to the cap bracket with the cam locks. Adjust the bracket to the cap, if necessary. Tighten the
pivot screws, so that the
Heat Reflective Quick View Shield
and, if mounted, the Base Shield can easily be
flapped up and down and securely rest in any position.
Despite of the fact that the
PAULSON Heat Reflective Quick View Shield
can be fixed in any position,
while working in the vicinity of radiation heat sources, the intended protection can be provided only, when
the
PAULSON Heat Reflective Quick View Shield
is securely fixed and in the deployed position. NOTE:
Protection against radiant heat is provided only for those areas of the face covered by the
PAULSON
Heat Reflective Quick View Shield.
