2.3 Intended use
PEP treatment can be carried out either separately or during
an inhalation session with a PARI nebuliser.
The PARI PEP S system must not be used without first receiv-
ing instruction from a doctor or physiotherapist.
Each PARI PEP S system must only be used by a single pa-
tient at home for hygiene reasons.
The PARI PEP S can be used:
– by children aged from about 5 to 8 under the supervision
and direction of a competent person
– by children aged 8 and older and adults after informed in-
struction
2.4 Contraindications and side effects
The PARI PEP S system must not be used by individuals who
are suffering from untreated pneumothorax or actively cough-
ing up blood.
The following side effects can occur: dizziness, shortness of
breath, headaches.
If you notice any of these side effects, discontinue the treat-
ment immediately. Contact your doctor or therapist to discuss
how to proceed with treatment.
Inform your doctor or therapist if you notice any side effects
that are not listed in these instructions for use.
2.5 Product combinations
The PARI PEP S system can be used with:
– PARI LC, PARI LC SPRINT and PARI LL type nebulisers
– an optional pressure gauge
The pressure gauge is used for adjusting the expiratory re-
sistance to your individual needs and for monitoring this re-
sistance during treatment.
