Using Your Jetpack 19
Tethering Your Jetpack
You can connect to the internet by tethering your jetpack to the
USB 2.0 port on your computer. USB tethering is compatible with
Windows 8 (32-bit/64-bit), Windows 7 (32-bit/64-bit), Windows
Vista SP2 (32-bit/64-bit) and Windows XP SP3 (32-bit). For Windows
7/8/Vista SP2 a CD Drive will be populated on your computer when
the MHS291L is tethered to your computer. Double-click and follow
the Install Wizard.
Note
•
USB Tethering is not compatible with Mac OS.
•
It is recommended that you use a USB 2.0 port when
tethering, but if your computer only has USB 3.0 ports,
try to update the USB 3.0 host controller driver. If your
computer has a mix of USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, you can
identify USB 3.0 ports by color. On many newer systems,
a USB 3.0 port may be identified by having blue plastic
components.
•
You can turn Wi-Fi on or off when tethered. See
Wi-Fi On/
Off
on page 26.
•
The USB driver includes GPS driver. You can turn GPS on of
off. See
GPS
