Answering system (KX-TG8090/KX-TG8092/KX-TG8093)
For DSL users
We recommend connecting a filter (contact your DSL service provider) to the telephone line between the
base unit and the telephone line jack.
Problem
Cause & solution
The unit does not record new
messages.
L
The answering system is turned off. Turn it on (page 23).
L
If you subscribe to the voice mail service, messages are
recorded by your service provider/telephone company not
your telephone. Change the unit’s
“
Number of Rings
”
setting or consult your service provider/telephone
company (page 26).
I cannot operate the answering system
with the handset or the base unit.
L
The base unit or another handset is being used. Wait for
the other user to finish.
L
A caller is leaving a message. Wait for the caller to finish.
L
The handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer.
I cannot operate the answering system
remotely.
L
You are entering the wrong remote access code. If you
forget the remote access code, store a new remote
access code (page 25).
L
Press each key firmly.
L
The answering system is turned off. Follow the steps in
“When the answering system is off”, page 25.
L
You are using a rotary/pulse telephone. Try again using a
touch-tone phone.
L
Remote operation is not available unless you change the
remote access code from the default setting (
“
0000
”
).
Change the remote access code.
While recording a greeting message or
listening to messages, the unit rings
and recording stops.
L
A call is being received. Answer the call and try again
later.
The call screening setting turns
“
On
”
or
“
Off
”
even though I set it differently.
L
You pressed
{^}
or
{V}
when screening a call or when the
base unit was in standby mode. Set the call screening
setting again (page 26).
