Answering System
Problem
Cause & Remedy
The Answering System is on,
but incoming messages are
not recorded.
• The recording time is set to “Greeting only”.
Select “1 minute”, “2 minutes” or “3 minutes”
(p. 21).
• Memory is full. Erase unnecessary
messages (p. 57).

and the ANSWER ON indicator
flashes rapidly, and no new
messages are recorded.
• Memory is full. Erase unnecessary
messages (p. 57).
You cannot access a mailbox
from the base unit or the
cordless handset.
• If more than one other unit is in use, you may not
be able to access the mailbox. Try again later.
• If 2 other users are listening to messages, or
another user is listening to messages while the
Answering System is responding to a call, you
cannot access the mailbox. Try again later.
You cannot access a mailbox
from a touch tone phone.
• Make sure you enter the correct remote code
(p. 60).
• If “
Enter Mailbox password
” is heard, Mailbox 2
or 3 has a password which must be entered
(p. 52).
• The Answering System may not respond if
the tones are too short to activate the unit.
Press each button firmly.
• The Answering System is off. Turn it on (p. 62).
You cannot erase messages
in the mailbox.
• While another user is accessing the mailbox
or a caller is leaving a message in the
mailbox, you cannot erase messages in the
same mailbox.
When you play back
messages or you turn the
Answering System on, the unit
announces the wrong day.
• The date may be set incorrectly. Adjust the
date (p. 16).
Caller ID information is not
displayed during message
playback (p. 56).
• Caller ID information will not be displayed
– if a message is recorded by using
[MEMO]
(p. 58),
– if a call is transferred to a mailbox, and the
caller leaves a message (p. 58), or
– if the Caller List is renewed and the Caller
List item is erased (p. 29).
