Sending documents
overseas
MBNM 4 NM 1 NM 1 N
If you cannot send a fax overseas even if the number is correct and the line is
connected, activate this feature before sending the fax.
This feature improves the reliability by reducing the transmission speed.
M 0 N “
OFF
” : Deactivates this feature.
M 1 N “
NEXT FAX
” : This setting is effective only for the next attempted fax
transmission. After transmission, the unit will return to the previous setting.
M 2 N “
ERROR
” (default): When the previous fax transmission fails and you wish
to re-send the document.
Note:
R This feature is not available for broadcast transmission.
R Calling charges may be higher than usual.
Sending a fax at a specific
time
MBNM 4 NM 1 NM 2 N
This feature allows you to take advantage of low-cost calling hours offered by
your telephone company. This feature can be set up to 24 hours in advance of
the desired time.

To send a document:
1.
If the M Fax N light is OFF, turn it ON by pressing M Fax N .
2. Set the original (page 19).
3. If necessary, change the resolution (page 42) and the contrast (page 42).

5. Press M 1 N to select “ ON ” . A M Set N
6. Enter the fax number.
R To enter an item using one-touch dial feature and phonebook, see step
3 on “6.3.1 Using the scanner glass”, page 44. (When using phonebook,
you do not have to press
M Phonebook N before pressing MCN or MDN .)

8. Enter the transmission start time.
R If you selected 12-hour time entry (page 22), press MHN repeatedly to
select AM or PM.
R If you selected 24-hour time entry (page 22), the time is set using 24-hour
time entry.
9. When using the scanner glass, press M Set N . A M Start N
When using the automatic document feeder, press M Set N .
R The document will be fed into the unit and scanned into memory. The
unit will then send the data at the specified time. You cannot use this
feature for another fax transmission until the former sending is
completed.
Note:
R To cancel this setting after programming, press M Stop N while the unit is idle,
and then press M Set N .
Setting the Error Correction
Mode (ECM)
MBNM 4 NM 1 NM 3 N
This feature is available when the sending / receiving fax machines are ECM
compatible.
M 0 N “
OFF
” : Deactivates this feature.
M 1 N “
ON
” (default): Fax transmission / reception will be carried out so that the
errors do not occur.
