14. Locking Bayonet Lever
The lever has three settings that control the rotation of the
collet holding the bit being sharpened.
15. Collet Clamp Handle
After a collet has been inserted into the tool carrier head,
the collet clamp handle is also inserted. The item being
sharpened is inserted into the collet. The clamp handle is
rotated clockwise to hold the item for sharpening.
16. Tool Carrier Head Lateral Adjustment Knob
Turning this knob moves the entire Tool Carrier Head left and
right based on an operators viewpoint.
17. Tool Carrier Head Removal Knob
Loosening this knob allows the operator to remove the Tool
Carrier Head completely. Some accessories require removal
and replacement of the head.
18. Relief Angle Scale
Shows the angle of the tool carrier head in relation to the
grinding disc.
19. Tool Carrier Shaft Lock Knob
This knob completely locks the tool carrier shaft and
prevents it from rotating.
OPERATION - GENERAL
Dusty work environments may be
hazardous to your health. Always wear a
OSHA/NIOSH approved, properly fitting face mask or
respirator.
The operation of any power tool can result
in foreign object being thrown into the
eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear
safety goggles complying with United States ANSI Z87.1.
Wear proper apparel when using this tool.
Do not wear loose clothing, gloves,
neckties, rings, bracelets or other jewelry which may get
caught up in moving parts of machine.
The on / off switch
The on / off switch is located on
the upper left side of the tool. To
open the switch cover, rotate the
red mushroom shaped emergency
kill button:
1. Rotate the red “emergency
kill” button to open the yellow
power switch box.
2. Push the green button to start
the tool.
3. Push the red button to stop the tool.
The cup wheel on the Grinder / Sharpener will continue
to rotate for approximately 30 seconds after the tool is
turned off.
4. For an emergency stop, push the red “mushroom shaped”
button.
OPERATION - ACCESSORY ATTACHMENTS
Make sure all workpieces being sharpened
or ground are held securely in the
accessory attachments. Workpieces not secured can be
“grabbed” by the tools cup wheel and thrown violently. Never
hold a workpiece by hand.
The Model 9682905 Grinding / Sharpener can sharpen v-blade
mill bits (burins), end mills, drill bits and lathe cutters with the use
of accessories that attach to the Grinder / Sharpener machine.
These accessories come supplied with the machine and work in
conjunction with the Tool Carrier Head.
Once the workpiece (or accessory holder clamping the
workpiece) being sharpened is correctly secured into the Tool
Carrier Head, the various angles and positions for sharpening
can be achieved by setting the tool’s components.
