Explanation of the charging steps
1
–
Desulfatation
Gently increasing and decreasing voltages and currents at the beginning of the charging
process restore the sulfation of the battery caused by short-distance traffic and frequently
discharged batteries.
2
–
Soft Start
Regulated gently increasing voltages ensure a gentle transition and start into the main charge
and prevent damage to the lead grids.
3
–
Main charge (continuous current)
The battery is charged at a steady current and carefully increasing voltage up to a predefined
maximum voltage value until 80% of the total charge has been reached. The start phase
continues until the battery terminal voltage has exceeded the set limit. At this point, the
charger switches to the main charge. If the battery terminal voltage does not reach the
voltage limit within a certain time, the charger switches to error mode (light 3) and interrupts
the charging process. In this case, the battery is faulty or its capacity is too large.
4
–
Absorption / Residual charge
The battery is fully charged to 100% of the total charge by maintaining a constant voltage
and gradually decreasing currents. The gradually decreasing current ensures that the
terminal voltage does not become too high during full charging.
