Safety instructions
WARNING!
Since a chainsaw operates at high speed and has high cutting power it is therefore
necessary that the user takes special precautions to avoid accidents.
Safety measures
Always read the user manual thoroughly before using the chainsaw. The user manual
contains important information about safety, maintenance, and use. Read the
instructions thoroughly – this must be done even if you already have some prior
knowledge about using a chainsaw. The machine may not be used for a purpose
other than that described in the user manual. Always comply with the applicable laws
and regulations relating to the use of the machine.
Reliable operation
•
Do not operate the machine if you are tired or under the influence of medicine,
alcohol, or narcotics. Never use the chainsaw if you are suffering from fatigue.
•
Always wear a face guard or safety goggles.
•
Always use safety equipment such as suitable workwear (jacket and trousers), cut-
resistant chainsaw safety gloves, safety boots with non-slip soles. Cut-resistant
trousers provide even more protection. Never wear short or loose-fitting clothing or
other items, such as a scarf, jewellery, or sandals. Do not work or walk around in bare
feet. Loose clothing can become caught on a branch or the chainsaw itself.
•
Wear ear defenders. Please note that hearing damage can develop over time.
•
Use cut-resistant chainsaw safety gloves that are suitable to the task, so that you have
as secure a grip as possible on the chainsaw handles. Keep the handles free of oil and
fuel.
•
Never leave the chainsaw with persons who are under 18 years of age or persons who
do not have sufficient experience. Keep any unauthorised persons, especially children
and animals at a safe distance when working with the chainsaw.
•
Never use the chainsaw in an enclosed space. The exhaust gases are toxic.
•
Keep hands away from the chain. Never touch the chain and do not hold the chainsaw
by the chain.
•
When the chainsaw is switched off, ensure that the chain has come to a complete
standstill before laying the chainsaw down.
•
Remember to take regular breaks from the work. Long-term exposure to vibrations
can lead to “white finger”, loss of feeling in the hands and loss of ability to feel and
regulate temperature.
•
Always comply with applicable regulations relating to the use of chainsaws.
