singlemode fiber optic light source. This quick reference guide provides instructions for performing a fiber optic insertion loss
test.
There are four main parts to performing an insertion loss test:
PART 1
gather accessories;
PART 2
set a reference for the wavelength(s) used during fiber link measurement;
EQUIPMENT PORTS
Figure 1 shows the ports used during this procedure. These ports may vary depending upon the model of equipment.
Other link configurations may require the user to adjust their test procedure accordingly.

check the additional power meter test cable; and

Note: this procedure assumes the fiber cable under test is properly installed with a patch panel at each end of the link, which allows
technicians to use the industry-recommended 1-jumper reference method.
