Attention!
Proceed with caution and in small increments when adjusting the resistances, since
there is the risk of falling!
When making extension damping adjustments, make sure that the leg still com-
pletely extends with each step.
When adjusting the swing phase control, the influence
of a cosmetic foam cover must be compensated for.
Attention!
In extreme cases of dynamic permanent loading, the hydraulic damping systems can
heat up. When using the knee joint do not reach into the joint mechanism since there
is the risk of injury.
4.4 Cosmetic cover
Use the 3S107/3S27 Foam Cover for the 3R60 (=KD/=ST/=HD) Knee Joints.
Attention!
Do not use talcum powder to eliminate noise in the cosmetic foam cover. Talcum powder
reduces the lubrication of the mechanical parts, which may lead to a malfunction and
thus increase the risk of failure. Using this medical product after application of talcum
powder will render all claims null and void.
Note:
To reduce friction and to eliminate noise, please apply 519L5 Silicone Spray directly on
the contact surfaces of the cosmetic foam cover.
4.5 Maintenance Instructions
Attention - Please inform your patients!
The knee joint function may be affected by both environmental and service conditions.
To reduce the risk for the patient, the knee joint should not be used when noticeable
functional changes occur. Noticeable functional changes may include poor response,
incomplete extension, diminished swing phase control or stance phase stability, abnor-
mal noises, etc.
Measure after noticeable functional changes have occurred:
Have the prosthesis examined at a specialist workshop.
Attention!
The knee joint must not be lubricated or greased, since this would result in a risk of
bearing damage and loss of function.
Attention!
Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents since they could cause damage to bearings,
seals and plastic parts.
Do not disassemble the knee joint!
If you have a problem, please send the knee joint
in for service.
Ottobock recommends readjusting the knee joint‘s settings once the patient has gotten used to
the prosthesis. This period of time varies depending on individual patient characteristics.
