6.5 Finishing the functional shank
CAUTION
Incorrect protective equipment
Injury due to defective or lack of protective equipment.
► Wear protective goggles and a dust mask during grinding.
Shortening the functional shank
Complete the following steps to shorten the functional shank:

1) Bring the prosthesis to full extension.
2) Measure from the bottom edge of the
upper knee part to the top edge of the foot
connection plate.
3) Add approx. 15 mm to the measured
length and transfer this to the functional
shank.
INFORMATION: On the functional
shank, measure from the top to the bot­
tom.
4) Cut off the functional shank at the marked
location.
INFORMATION: Note the foot position
for an optimum fitting result.
Adaptation for fitting users with feet with a high structural height
For a fitting with a foot with a high structural height, the inner diameter on the lower side of the
functional shank has to be adapted accordingly.
The following steps have to be completed to
adapt the functional shank with the 1C61 Triton
Vertical Shock:
1) Enlarge the opening on the lower side of
the functional shank.
2) Sand the diameter in the foam to 60 mm.
3) Foam material (e.g. Pedilen) can be
applied in the ankle area of the 1C61 Triton
Vertical Shock (below the pyramid adapter
and functional ring) to ensure a better hold
of the functional shank in the ankle area.

The following steps have to be completed to
adapt the functional shank with the 1C60 Tri­
ton:
► Expose the foam on the inside rear for the
carbon spring of the prosthetic foot.
Adaptation for fitting users with a small ankle circumference (optional)
Material can be applied to the tube adapter for fittings with feet that have a low structural height
(such as the 1D35, Triton LP).
