Unspecified CPU Fault After Warm Reset (CR 7054657)
When the server undergoes a reset because of a CPU accessing memory from an uncorrectable
DIMM, a reboot or warm reset from the server might result in an unspecified CPU fault. This
has been observed with Windows 2008 R2 SP1 and Windows 2008 SP2.
The sequence of events is:
■
CPU accesses memory from an uncorrectable ECC DIMM.
■
As a result, the CPU initiates a platform reset.
■
The next reset results in a valid DIMM fault.
■
When the DIMMs are not replaced and the system continues to operate with the fault,
a subsequent reboot or warm reset results in processors faults. However, these are false
processor faults
