1. INTRODUCTION
Module with two output audio channels (paging and music) and up to 16 speaker
line outputs (zone subdivisions) for COMPACT system.
The module is available in 4, 8, 12 or 16 subdivisions zone (sub-zones).
Table I
shows
the different models according to the number of zone subdivision outputs they can
control.
Characteristics:
•
Independent volume, bass and treble controls or 10-band graphic equalizer
(30Hz / 60Hz / 125Hz / 250Hz / 500Hz / 1KHz / 2KHz / 4KHz / 8KHz / 16KHz) for
music and paging channels, via the
Call Point
software.
•
Individual adjustment of the music program volume of each zone subdivision output, via the
Call Point
software.
• Surveillance/backup functions
Monitoring of the speaker line: The module injects different frequencies in the speaker line; it then collects and analyses these
frequencies to determine the condition of the line (line open, short-circuit, low impedance, high impedance or line in good
condition).
Monitoring of the condition of the amplifier by analysing the audio signal and by detecting the 24 VDC it receives from the
amplifier. If a fault occurs in the paging amplifier, the music amplifier also performs the paging amplifier functions. In this case,
when a message is sent, the music stops in all zones and the message sounds in the selected zone.
• It occupies 4 slots in the audio matrix. It can be inserted into slots 3 to 7 of the COMPACT matrix or slots 1 to 7 of the
COMPACT-E slave.
Functioning:
At rest, the speaker lines outputs are connected to the music channel. When a message is activate to a sub-zone (from a
microphone desk, for example), the loudspeaker line switches to the paging channel. Music program stops in the selected sub-zone
to issue the message. Each sub-zone also has an surety paging relay that allows to inhibit the external volume controls when a
message is send.

shows the switching that occurs when the system sends a message to sub-zone 2.
Figure 1c shows the switching that occurs when the system sends a message to the sub-zone 2 in the event that the message
amplifier fails.
