DESCRIPTION
3.1. Product Overview
General
Siqura C-54 E-MC (or, in this document, also called C-54 E for short) is a field-hardened,
4-channel, multi-codec video server for IP applications, capable of streaming MPEG-2,
MPEG-4 and MJPEG simultaneously. In addition to unidirectional video, the C-54 E offers an
independent bidirectional data channel.
Models
The C-54 E is to be used in MC 11 or similar power supply cabinets from Optelecom-NKF, but
is also available as a stand-alone module (/SA version). Network connections are electrical or
optical (/SFP versions). Front panel LEDs indicate network status, stream status (sync), data
activity, no video, and DC power. All models have backup battery power for their clocks.
Video streaming
The C-54 E is capable of streaming MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and MJPEG simultaneously. Internally,
each of the four encoding processors can take a separate analog video input signal and
convert it into two independent digital video streams – either MPEG-2, MPEG-4 or MJPEG –
with different resolutions and frame rates. A total of six copies per channel – three per
independent MPEG-2/4, MJPEG video stream – can be transmitted to different unicast and/or
multicast destinations using the MX protocol. The C-54 E is capable of transmitting 4 x 2 x 3
MPEG-2/4, MJPEG UDP streams as long as the output bandwidth is less than 15 Mb/s per
input. Up to twenty streams per video input can be retrieved using RTSP.
In addition, each of the four encoding processors offers a
Live View
encoder that can convert
the analog video input signal to MJPEG format for streaming to web applications or remote
devices by using the HTTP protocol.
Web interface
The C-54 E’s internal web pages enable you to view live video images, configure module
settings and remotely upgrade the embedded software, using a standard web browser.
Compatibility
Being part of Siqura, the C-54 E is compatible with the Siqura C- and S-series decoders, the
Siqura Intelligent Network Video Recorder (
i
-NVR), and the Siqura Software Suite. For more
information, refer to the Optelecom-NKF website.
Open Streaming Architecture (OSA)
Apart from the Siqura proprietary MX protocol, the C-54 E supports streaming protocols
based on open standards. A comprehensive HTTP API enables easy integration. Contact
Optelecom-NKF for the API description or download the
Codec/Camera Programming
Interface
specification from the Optelecom-NKF website.
