6.1.1 RS-232 and USB communication interfaces

To facilitate communication between the UPS system and a computer,
connect the computer using a suitable data cable (RS-232 cable,
included in the scope of supply) to one of the communication ports of
the UPS system. Figure 10 shows the position of the communication
ports.

HINWEIS

RS-232 and USB communication interface cannot be used
simultaneously.

When the connection cable is connected, the DataWatch software
can exchange data with the UPS system (see "

DataWatch soft-

ware

“). The software calls up detailed specifications about the status

of the power supply environment from the UPS system. If an emer-
gency power situation becomes necessary, the software will trigger
the storage of all data and a proper shutdown of the system.

The assignment of the cable connection pins for the RS-232 com-
munications port is shown in Figure 11; refer to Table 6 for the func-
tions of the connection pins.
