5-2  Error Messages  

If one of the messages listed on the following table is displayed on the PT, find the symptoms of the 
error below and then perform the suggested countermeasures. 

 

5-2-1  Troubleshooting Data Transfers from the CX-Designer  

This section describes possible errors during data transfer and their countermeasures. 

 

 

Message Cause 

Possible countermeasure 

Either Screen Data Transfer or 
Memory Card Transfer is  
already started up. Cannot start 
up both programs at once.

 

Tried to start both Memory 
Card Transfer and Screen 
Data Transfer.

 

Only one transfer program can be started 
at a time. 

 

The file name can be up to 42 
characters, including the exten-
sion.

 

Project file name (*.IPP) con-
tains 43 or more characters.

 

There are limits on transferable file names. 
Check the error message and use 
CX-Designer to adjust the file name  
accordingly. There are similar limits on 
notation for text files indirectly accessed. 

 

The file name can be up to 14 
characters, including the exten-
sion, when characters  other 
than alphanumeric characters, 
underscores, and dollar signs 
are contained. 

Project file name (*.IPP) con-
tains 14 or more characters 
when special characters are 
used. 

There are limits on transferable file names. 
Check the error message and use 
CX-Designer to adjust the file name  
accordingly. There are similar limits on 
notation for text files indirectly accessed. 

Specified file name contains an 
invalid character. 
Unusable character:  
\ / : , ; * ? ” < > |

 

File name contains invalid 
characters. 

 

There are limits on transferable file names. 
Check the error message and use 
CX-Designer to adjust the file name ac-
cordingly. There are similar limits on nota-

contains an invalid character. 
Usable characters are alpha-
numeric (0 to 9, A to Z, a to z), 
dollar mark ($), underscore (_), 
and . Check the project file and 
correct it.

extension will be valid. There are similar
