An NS-CA001 Video Input Unit or NS-CA002 RGB/Video Input Unit can be installed to display images
from video cameras or Vision Sensors on the PT.
An NS-CA001 Video Input Unit can be installed on an NS12, NS10, or NS8 PT to connect up to four
video cameras or Vision Sensors. The NS-CA001 Video Input Unit cannot be mounted to the NS15 or
NS5.
A NS-CA002 RGB/Video Input Unit can be installed on an NS15, NS12, NS10, or NS8 PT. With an
NS15 PT, however, only an RGB inputs can be used. Refer to the
NS-series Programmable Terminals

There are two choices for the video input method with either the NS-CA001 or NS-CA002: NTSC
and PAL. To select the video input method, select

and click the
Video
Tab.
♦
When connecting more than one camera, the NTSC/PAL setting for those cameras are performed
at once. The input method cannot be set for each camera individually.
Creating Video Displays
The method of creating video displays and precautions in doing so are described here for the
NS-CA001 Video Input Unit. Refer to the
NS-series Programmable Terminals RGB and Video Input
Unit Operation Manual
(Cat. No. V086) for information on the NS-CA002 RGB/Video Input Unit.
Creating Video Displays
To create a video display, select
Functional objects - Video Display
or click the
icon on the
CX-Designer.
Precautions in Creating Video Displays
1. Display Size
Unlike other functional objects, the user must choose the size for the video display from three choices
listed below. The selected size cannot be changed using the mouse on the screen. The sizes that can
be selected depend on the PT model.
- Object size 320 x 240
- Object size 640 x 480
- Object size 800 x 600 (NS12 only)
2. Using a 800x600 Display as the Default
If the NS12 is set for the PT model and the 800x600 size is set as the default for video displays and
then the model is changed from NS12 to NS10 or NS8 and a video display is created on the screen,
the size of the object will be 800x600. This object will be larger than the screen. Change the object size
to 320x240 or 640x480.
3. Changing the PT Model
If you select the NS12 for the PT model, create a 800x600 video display object, and change the PT
model, the screen size will become smaller but the object size will remain at a 800 x 600 size. In this
case, make sure to change object size to 320 x 240 or 640 x 480, or the object will extend off the
screen.
4. Screens Not Permitting Video Displays
Video displays can be created only on normal screen. Video displays cannot be created on the follow-
ing screens.
- Pop-up screens
- Sheets
