Camera maintenance
After use
Turn the camera off.
Cleaning the camera

Close the lens barrier to turn the camera off.
Make sure that the monitor is turned off.

Remove the batteries (

P. 14). (If you are using an AC adapter,
unplug the AC adapter from the camera first before removing the
plug from the AC outlet.)

Exterior:

Wipe gently with a soft cloth. If the camera is very dirty, soak the
cloth in mild soapy water and wring well. Wipe the camera with the
damp cloth and then dry it with a dry cloth. If you have used the
camera at the beach, use a cloth soaked in clean water and well
wrung.
Monitor and viewfinder:

Wipe gently with a soft cloth.
Lens:
T
Remove dust from the lens with a blower (commercially available),
and wipe gently with lens cleaner paper (commercially available).
Card:
T
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.
Storage
•
When storing the camera for extended periods, remove the batteries and card from
the camera, and keep in a cool, dry place that is well ventilated.
• Periodically, replace the batteries, and test camera functions.
•
Do not use strong solvents such as benzene or alcohol, or
chemically treated cloth.
•
Cleaning should be done only after the batteries have been
removed or the AC adapter has been disconnected.
•
Mold may form on the lens surface if the lens is left dirty.
•
Avoid leaving the camera in places where chemical products are
handled since this may result in corrosion.
