15.5 Bias Generator (BIAS)

The bias generator is used to multiply and divide the voltage (V

DD2

) generated in the constant

voltage circuit with an external capacitor connected to pins C1, C2 to generate V

DD1

to V

DD5

bias voltages for the LCD driver.

The LCD power down mode stops the voltage lowering/raising operation of the bias
generation circuit in order to reduce supply current.

Figure 15-2 shows the bias generator configuration for 1/5 bias, and Figure 15-3 shows the
configuration for 1/4 bias.

For details of the voltage doubler circuit and the constant-voltage circuit, see Chapter 17,
"Power Supply Circuit."

Tables 15-2 and 15-3 list the display contrast adjusting voltages.
