Auswirkungen des Luftdrucks
Der Sensor nimmt den Partialdruck des Sauerstoffs
wahr, nicht die Sauerstoffkonzentration. Luftdruckände-
rungen beeinflussen die Ablesung, auch wenn sich die
Sauerstoffkonzentration in der Probe nicht verändert.
Der Partialdruck des Sauerstoffs (PO
2
) entspricht der
Sauerstoffkonzentration in Prozent (%O

(x) mit dem Luftdruck, bei dem die Probe gemessen
wird (mmHg-Quecksilber):

Beispiel:
Am Meeresspiegel entspricht der Luftdruck 760
mmHg und trockene Luft enthält 21 % O
2
. Daher

Das Gerät wird so kalibriert, das es bei 160 mmHg
Partialdruck 21 % anzeigt. Dann wird es in eine Gegend
gebracht, die über dem Meeresspiegel liegt und wo der
Luftdruck 700 mmHg beträgt. Aufgrund des niedrigeren
Partialdrucks ist somit auch die Anzeige niedriger.

Die Prozentanzeige auf dem Gerät wird mit Hilfe folgen-
der Formel berechnet:

Daher muss das Gerät auf den bei der Verwendung
herrschenden Luftdruck kalibriert werden, um Fehler zu
vermeiden, die auf Luftdruckänderungen zurückzufüh-
ren sind.
Der Sensor darf nur bei einem Luftdruck
zwischen 600 und 900 mmHg betrieben
werden, da ansonsten Gerätefehler auftreten
können, die nicht kalibrierbar sind.
Auswirkungen von Luftfeuchtigkeit
Ist Luftfeuchtigkeit in einer Sauerstoffprobe vorhanden,
sinkt die tatsächliche Sauerstoffkonzentration von 100
% auf 96-97 % ab. Das Gerät zeigt diesen Konzentra-
tionsabfall an.
Kondensiert die Luftfeuchtigkeit auf der Diffusionsmem-
bran am Sensor, ist der Pfad für den Sauerstoff blocki-
ert, sodass eine niedrigere Sauerstoffkonzentration
angezeigt wird. Dies ist typisch für aIle Sauerstoffgas-
sensoren und tritt verstärkt auf, wenn sich der Sensor
im Luftstrom eines Luftbefeuchters befindet.
Wird der Sensor in einem Beatmungskreislauf verwen-
det, diesen mit dem Deflektor nach unten ausgerichtet
montieren, damit sich keine Feuchtigkeit auf der Sen-
sormembran niederschlagen kann (siehe Abbildung
4-1). Wenn möglich den Sensor nicht direkt im Luftstrom
eines Luftbefeuchters montieren.
Auswirkungen von Temperatur

1 Sensor ist mit einem Thermistor
ausgestattet, mit dessen Hilfe er gegen Temperatur-
schwankungen desensibilisiert wird.
Abweichungen der Sensoranzeige aufgrund von Tem-
peraturschwankungen Iiegen unter 3 %, wenn der Sen-
sor bei Temperaturen zwischen 0 und 40 °C verwendet
bzw. kalibriert wird. Solche Abweichungen können
minimiert werden, indem das Gerät bei Temperaturen
verwendet wird, die denen bei der Kalibrierung entspre-
chen.

Den Sensor während der Kalibrierung oder
des Betriebs so wenig wie möglich anfas

sen. Die Ablesung des Thermistors kann
durch Körperwärme disproportional zu der
an der Sensorelektrode gemessenen Temper
-
aturschwankung in der Gasprobe verändert
werden. Dies kann zu Fehlanzeigen führen,
bis das thermische Gleichgewicht wieder
hergestellt ist.
