STARTING UP AND ADJUSTMENT
EN
The welding gas which is used must correspond to the welding ap-
plication case. The table below shows the main cases and gases
which can be used with solid wires.
Key: +++ = very good, ++ = good, + = average
(1) product quality: homogeneity, control of impurities, traceability

STARTING UP AND ADJUSTMENT
The main ON/OFF switch is located on the
front panel of the power-source. This switch is
used to start the unit up.
The green indicator lamp shows that the power-source
is operating.
The yellow indicator lamp indicates an operating de-
fect :
- Over heating of the power source
- Missing phase on power supply
- water safety
7.1
WELDING CYCLES SELECTION
In MIG-MAG welding, pressing the trigger of the MIG torch has dif-
ferent effects, depending on the cycle or welding method used.
The cycle is selected by means of the buttons located on the front
panel of the power source, on the top area.
2 - action cycle
P r e s s i n g t h e t r i g g e r
causes the wire feed, the
pregas and the establish-
ment of the welding cur-
rent. When the trigger is
released, welding stops.
4 - a c t i o n c y c l e
without crater-filler
PRE-GAS is activat-
ed the first time the
trigger is pressed.
When the trigger is
released, welding
starts up (wire feed
+ current). Pressing
t h e t r i g g e r a g a i n
stops the welding
but the gas contin-
ues to flow. Releas-
ing the trigger a final

4 - action with cra-
ter filler cycle

same as previous
one except for the
end of the weld. It
can be finished with
a low level welding
phase. This contin-
ues whenever the
trigger is pressed.

7.2
WIRE AND GAS SELECTION
The three switches below on the front panel are used for:
1.
gas selection (CO2or mix gases Ar + CO2 etc...)
2.
wire type selection:
-
Solid W
= solid wire
-
FCW
= cored wire
-
Fe
= steel wire
-
Cr Ni
= stainless steel wire
-
Alu
= aluminium wire
3.
wire diameter.
Welding with cored steel wire, diameter 1.2mm using mixed gas
will be carried out by selecting MIX - FCW - Fe - 1.2.
Once this selection has been made, the 'OPTI' System integrated
in the power source will preset the voltage adjustment.
Therefore, one has only to position the blue button on the
wire-feed unit in the middle position in order to have an arc
voltage adjustment adapted to the selected wire speed ad-
justment (red button).
COMMENT: THE FCW - ALU POSITION DOES NOT HAVE A
SPECIAL PRE-SETTING; IT PROVIDES ACCESS TO THE EN-
TIRE VOLTAGE ADJUSTMENT RANGE OF THE POWER
SOURCE ("OPEN" SYNERGY).
7.3
WELDING PARAMETERS ADJUSTMENT
Two buttons on the wire feed unit permit the adjustment of the wire
speed and the welding voltage.
1.
The upper button (red) adjusts the wire speed from 1m/mn up
to approx. 20m/mn.
2.
The lower button (blue) adjusts the welding voltage and then
the arc length.
OPTI'SYSTEM
As told above, to make this last adjustment easier and more fine,
the adjustment range, available with the blue button, is optimised
depending on gas, wire type and diameter. The middle position of
the button indicates an average value corresponding to the gen-
eral use of the wire/gas used. It's the enough to fine tune the ad-
justment around this middle position. Some applications or some
welding positions may need a more specialised adjustment, farest
from the middle position of the blue button.
