5.0 Meter maintenance
This section provides the basic information on maintenance, including the descriptions about replacement of
batteries. Meter maintenance should only be performed by professionals.
5.1 General maintenance
To avoid any electric shock or damage to the meter, you should not open the meter for cleaning.
Clean the meter’s outer shell regularly with a damp cloth and a small amount of detergent.
A dirty or damp input socket may affect readings.
Steps for cleaning input sockets:
• Disable the meter and pull all test leads out of the input socket.
• Remove all dirt from the sockets.
• Use a new cotton ball with a small amount of detergent or lubricant to clean each socket. Some lubricant can protect
the socket from moisture.
5.2 Replacement of battery and fuse
To avoid any electric shock or personal injury as a result of incorrect readings,
replace the batteries as soon as the symbol appears on the display unit.
Only the designated fuse (630 mA / 250 V, 20 A / 250 V quick-acting fuse) can be used.
To avoid electric shock or personal injury, do not open the battery cover to replace the batteries unless
you have already powered off the device and only after the test leads have been disconnected.
Batteries must be replaced according to the following steps:
1. Cut off the power to the meter.
2. Pull all test leads out of the input socket.
3. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the bolts of the battery cover.
4. Take off the battery cover.
5. Remove the old batteries.
6. Replace the old batteries by 4 new 1.5 V AA batteries or charged batteries.
7. Put the battery cover back on and fix it.

Overload protection: protective tube for mA measuring range (FF630 mA / 250 V); protective tube for 20 A measuring
range (FF 20 A / 250 V).
If the measured current is over 5 A, the duration of the continuous measurement should not exceed 15 seconds.
The current measurement should be taken 1 minute after the completion of a previous measurement.
