10.1 Gable Cladding
i.
Pin the pre shaped cladding onto the front frame.
ii.
You may prefer to screw rather than pin the cladding onto the rear frame in order to gain access into the
ceiling void in future for maintenance.
10.2 Roof Boards
i.
Fix the 108 x 12mm tongue and groove timber boards onto the framing using 30mm screws leaving
117mm overhang at the front and rear.
ii.
Fit the 32 x 32mm soffit framing around the underside of the edge of the roof boards using 40mm screws
from below.
10.3 Asphalt Paper
i.
You will need to use a minimum of three sheets of asphalt paper to cover the roof. One for each side of
the roof and then another over the centre of the roof overlapping the side sheets (see Fig 10d). For
larger roofs use 2 or 3 sheets per side (i.e. 5 or 7 sheets total) Always overlap sheets by at least 75mm.
iii.
Cut the sheets (using a roofing knife) long enough to leave a 75mm overhang on the front and rear and
sides.
iv.
Fit the side sheets (A and B in the diagram) first using 15mm roofing nails at 100mm centres. Then
repeat for the centre sheet (C). Fold and nail the sheets tightly around the framing along the edges.
v.
Fit the 62 x 21mm facia board along the side of the roof. Pin to the framing.
vi.
Trim the excess paper along the side edges
