The OMX-PSW422 Switcher (part of the Smart A/B Switcher Line) provides the latest in elegant A/B
switch technology. Designed around a passive switch technology, the OMX-PSW422 goes an addi-
tional step and provides a smart link between all of the switchers in our Smart A/B line. This design
allows the user to “remote control” any or all of the switchers that are connected in such a fashion, thus
providing a multi-format switching system based on a single action.
The OMX-PSW422 switcher can operate alone as a standard A/B selector unit, and as such is straight
forward in its application and use. However, using the rear panel “Tally I/O” connectors and SPE-
CIALLY MANUFACTURED Smart A/B control cables, the Switchers can “talk” to each other. Simply
connect the Tally OUT of one switcher to the Tally IN of the next switcher. Next, set the switcher where
the Tally IN is used to REMOTE. Now the first switcher acts as the master control. The A/B selector
of the first switcher will control the A/B selector of the second switcher. Up to 10 Smart A/B switchers
can be looped in this manner. In this mode, only one power supply is needed. The first switcher will
provide power to all other switchers in the chain. If the distance between units exceeds 20 feet, then
the provided power supply must be used with each switcher.
Placing the switcher in LOCAL mode will disable the external tally signal commands and return the
switcher to LOCAL A/B mode. The switcher will always be in the A select position if power is lost.
Various combinations of this system can create many switch formats which are very useful in today’s
A/V environment.
