3.7 UART AND IRDA

Figure 3-4 shows the UART and IRDA interface. The M68VZ328 has two RS232 serial
ports, P2 and P3. P2 and P3 are using the UART1 and UART2 of MC68VZ328 respectively.
Both P2 and P3 are 9-pin female D-Type connectors containing the signals as shown in Fig-
ure 3-5. The transceivers for UART1 and UART2 can be enabled by turning the DIP switch
S1-1 and S1-2 on respectively.

The IRDA transceiver is connected to UART2 only with a buffer in between for controlling
its ON/OFF. If IRDA is being used, S1-2 should be switched OFF and S1-3 should be
