INTRODUCTION

USE AND FUNCTION

KN 72, KN 120, KN 294, KN 504 Blood Bank Refrigerators are designed for the storage of blood
and all blood components. Besides its usage for the storage of blood in blood banks, they can be
used for any cooling application in the allowed temperature range.
KN Series Blood Bank Refrigerators are capable of cooling down to set points between 0.0°C and
10.0°C  and  keep  temperature  stable  within  given  tolerances.  To  control  and  monitor  the  real
temperature of the stored blood, the temperature is measured from a bottle containing a liquid
which has similar thermal specifications with blood.
The circulation and homogeneity of the air which flows over the blood bags is provided by a fan
assembled  at  the  top  of  the  chamber.  It  is  supported  by  a  defrost  system  that  protects  the
evaporator against icing and maintains cooling performance.
KN  series  Blood  Bank  Refrigerators  are  safely  operated  via

N-SmArt™

microprocessor  control

system.  The  power  switch  of  the  refrigerators  is  equipped  with  a  key  lock  to  prevent
unauthorized  usage.  Temperature  in  the  chamber  is  displayed  digitally.  It  is  possible to  adjust
the  operating  temperature  between  0.0°C  and  10.0°C  with  0.1°C  sensitivity.  The  chamber  is
illuminated by a fluorescent lamp.
Samples can be observed through the triple heat resistant glass door. Also, triple heat resistant
glass  door  provides  perfect  insulation  against  ambient  temperature  fluctuations.  The  door  is
equipped with magnetic gasket and with a key lock to prevent unauthorized access.
KN  series  have  audible  and  visual  alarm  system  alarm  systems  for  high  and  low  temperature
conditions,  power  failure,  temperature  sensor  failure  and  other  faults  associated  with  the
microprocessor  control  system.  As  an  additional  safety  feature,  audible  and  visible  alarm  is
activated when the door remains open more than two minutes. KN series store last 50 failures
in the memory and these errors can be followed on the display. Standard Ethernet connection
feature enables email sending to five different e-mail addresses in case of any error. KN series
offers

AlerText™

GSM  module  as  an  option  and  SMS  can  be  sent  to  five  different  telephone

numbers in case of error.
The  alarm  system  is  fed  by  an  automatically  re-chargeable  battery.  In  case  of  electricity
interruption, the chamber temperature is measured and displayed as well. Remote alarm outlet
and the outlet for connection to central alarm system are offered as standard.
KN series refrigerators have internal memory which can store temperature values for 10 years.
In addition to internal memory, temperature values can be recorded in USB stick. KN series have
a weekly circular chart recorder as an  option. The temperature in the chamber is recorded by
this chart recorder operated by the backup battery. Chart recorder is equipped with a key lock
to prevent unauthorized usage.

KN series blood bank refrigerators are manufactured according to the following standards:
EN 60601-1, EN 61010-1, EN 61000-6-3, EN 62366, EN 60601-1-4, EN 60601-1-2, EN 60601-1-6,
EN 980, EN 50419, EN ISO 14971.
