Closed Loop Chiller
The single most common cause of a laser returned for repair involves customer damage.
More than one third of these damaged lasers result from cooling problems. Coolant
problems almost always require the replacement of the diode arrays - the single most
expensive component in Northrop Grumman lasers. This section describes how to avoid
damaging arrays.
WARNING.
Do not operate laser without cooling. Do not power the laser diodes or Q-
switch without cooling. Inadequate heat dissipation will seriously damage the laser
diodes or Q-switch and will void warranty.
