Position Sensor Calibration

This screen allows the operator to calibrate the cylinder position sensor.
Optional cylinder position cylinders provide 4 − 20ma analog signals which
must be converted into pressure readings by dispense system software. To
calibrate the cylinder position sensor, refer to the calibration literature
accompanying the cylinder position cylinder. Proceed as follows:
Enter appropriate data from the accompanying literature into the 0 mm
Cal Val (mA) and Full Scale mm Value (ma) interface entry fields. The
Scaled Distance (mm) at the top of the screen will then show the
calibrated distance with no correction for the zero offset. The displayed
distance may be positive or negative, due to the pre − load placed on the
cylinder position sensor when it is installed. On all other screens,
negative distance values are forced to read zero.
Finally, enter a value into the zero offset data entry field which will result
in a low, single digit positive distance reading. This will serve to cancel
out the false preloaded distance offset. For example, if the distance
reads 74 mm when the zero offset is 0, you could enter a value of − 70
so that the final calibrated distance will read 4 psi. Likewise, if the
distance reads − 50, you could enter a zero offset of 55 so that the final
calibrated distance will read 5 psi.
