Resetting the Admin Password

Nokia IP200 Series Security Platform Installation Guide

Note

If your system is flash-based (diskless) and you have lost both the admin
and boot manager passwords, contact Nokia Customer Support for
further assistance. See

“Nokia Contact Information”

on page 3 for contact

details

Resetting the Admin Password

If you lose the admin password, you can reset it by using the

overpw

command after using the boot manager to boot to the IPSO CLI in single-user
mode, as described in the following procedure.

To reset the admin password

Enter the boot manager command line using the procedure in

“To enter

the boot manager”

on page 65.

BOOTMGR[0]>

boot -s

The Nokia IPSO prompt (#) appears.

Run the overpw command:

/etc/overpw

Enter a new temporary password when prompted to do so.

Reboot your appliance.
