Chapter 2  Preparations 

4.  

Install a PCI board to the PCI slot.   

When installing the board, position the terminal part of the PCI board to the PCI slot and insert it.   

 

 

Important  Do not touch the connector of PCI slot or the terminal part of PCI boards 

and the signal pins of electric parts installed on the board. Installing boards 

with dirt or oil can cause malfunction.   

 

Note 

•

  Make sure that the head of a PCI board bracket is seated into the fixed slot.   

•

  Depending on type of PCI boards, the terminal part of the PCI board may be too 

large to fit in the connector.   

•

  If you have trouble installing the board, remove the board once and try again. If 

you apply excessive pressure on the board, a PCI board or PCI connector might 

break.   

 

5.  

Bring back the lever to its original position, and fix the PCI card. 

 

 

Tips 

If the locking mechanism of PCI slot is tight, fix the PCI card slowly until it is surely 

locked. 

 

6.  

Continue to install or remove internal optional devices, mount and connect the server, and turn it on.
