8. Verify Remote Support Functionality
To verify remote support functionality, follow the steps below.
1. After pressing “D” to boot the Diagnostic Partition, set up your server to enable COM1 by
selecting the following menu options:
Run Utilities and Diagnostics > System Config Utils > Execute SCU >
Step 3: Change Configuration Settings
At the Password Menu, press ESC to continue. Then, select these menu options:
System Board > On-Board Communication Devices
Select and verify the indicating setting for the option below:

2. While in the System Board section, scroll down to Console Redirection to verify the following
settings:

Serial Port Baud Rate
Enter the baud rate for the remote support modem: 38.4K Baud
Flow Control
CTS/RTS & CD
Press ESC twice to return to the SCU Main menu. Select Step 4: Save Configuration and
press ENTER. Select Step 6: Exit and press ENTER.
At the Confirm Exit message, select Yes. At the prompt, press any key to continue.
3. Press ESC until you reach the Main Menu on the “Welcome to NCR Utilities” screen.
4. Select the modem vendor by selecting the indicated options:
Remote Support > Modem Utilities > Configure Modem >
Edit Modem Profile > 1. Select Modem Vendor > 1. Lasat
5. Select

3 to exit and return to the previous menu.
6. Select
the
Set Password/Country option. To verify country information, select the following
options:
2. Configure Country Code > 1. View Country Code
Note: If your country information is not correct, modify using option 2. Change Country
Code. If your country does not appear for selection, contact your customer service
representative.
Select 3. Exit to return to the Set Password/Country Options menu.
7. Select
1. Administer Passwords to define a (1) call-through password for NCR Remote
Support Verification or a (2) call-back password or call-through password if you are verifying
from your own help desk.
Select 2. Define Password. Wait for the Enter the password number you want to change or
press <Enter> to escape message. Type 0 and press ENTER to define a remote call-through
password.
