Vector-LP – Adding Standby Side

Issue 1.0

FM10011

1.8  Identification of Modified Assemblies

Identifying modified assemblies will inform future maintainers of the current configuration.
Mark the Vector-LP with “FM10011” using indelible ink to show it has been modified.

1.9  Publications Affected

No changes required.

2  INSTALLING THE STANDBY SIDE OPTION

(a)  Turn off the NDB transmitter. Switch off its ac power source (and dc power source, if

applicable).

(b)  Ensure the NDB transmitter is “locked out” (e.g., place a lock on the transmitter’s ac

mains and/or dc supply) to ensure it cannot be turned on.

(c)  If the transmitter is installed in a Nautel supplied rack, ensure the shipping hardware has

been removed (as per transmitter installation instructions). Extend the transmitter out of
the cabinet on its slides.

2.1 Installing the Standby RF Power Module (A13)

(a)  See Figure 1. Remove RF power module B’s cover plate from the top of the transmitter,

noting it is secured using two (2) M4 securing screws. Retain hardware.

(b)  See Figure 2. Locate 25-pin D-sub connector P19 noting it is tyrapped to a cableform on

the left-hand side of the transmitter, below the cover plate removed in step (a). Carefully
cut the tyrap(s) that secure P19 to the cableform.

(c)  Obtain the RF power module (A13, Nautel Part # NAP35*/**) from the Vector-LP standby

side kit (Nautel Part # 205-1026**).

NOTE

Ensure proper orientation of the RF power module before installing it in the transmitter. The
mating connector at the bottom of the module should face the rear of the transmitter.

(d)  Carefully insert the RF power module in the slot in the top of the transmitter. Align the

module with the guides on each side of the transmitter. Slide the module down into the
transmitter and push it firmly into place.

(e)  Connect P19 to A1J7 of the RF power module noting A1J7 is located near the top of the RF

power module. Engage the spring latches on either side of the connector.

(f)  See Figure 1. Replace the top cover for the RF power module and secure using five M4

screws - two (2) that were retained in step 2.1 (a), the other three (3) (Nautel Part #
HMPSP21F) from Vector-LP Standby side kit.

(g)  See Figure 1.If it is desired to install the RF power module shipping hardware, secure the

bottom of the module with two (2) M4 screws (Nautel Part # HMPSP21F) from the
Vector-LP Standby side kit.
