9. Remove the loose intake valve, spacer, and valve stop out of the end of the cylinder.
10. Remove the piston bushing and piston seal assembly out of the other end of the cylinder.
11. Unscrew the intake valve packing nut from the intake valve.
12. Remove both the foot valve seals from inside the intake valve.
13. If necessary, remove the intake bushing from inside the valve nut.
14. Pull the fluid rod and piston assembly out of the outlet body and rod seal assemblies and set
aside.
15. Remove the rod bushing and rod seal assemblies from the top of the outlet body.
Disassemble Piston and Piston Valve
16. Unscrew the piston valve and priming rod from the piston.
17. Note Use caution not to let the piston ball fall out and become damaged. If the ball falls
onto a hard surface it may become scratched or get a flat spot.
18. Remove the piston ball, ball guide, ball spring, and ball stop from inside the piston.
19. Clean and inspect all parts for wear or damage.
20. Replace any damaged parts as well as all parts that are provided by the seal kit.
Reassembling Fluid Section
Note Assembly of the standard and stainless steel versions differ in the seals used
in the intake valve. Refer to the parts drawing specific to the model you are
working on for the correct part numbers.
Assemble Piston and Piston Valve
1. Install the ball stop into the bottom of the piston.
2. Install the spring into the piston with the narrow end forward.
3. Insert the ball guide into the piston over the spring.
Note The relief (round) end of the ball guide goes against the spring into the
piston.
4. Install a new O-ring onto the piston valve.
5. Apply a light coat of the appropriate grease to the piston ball and place it into the piston on
top of the spring.
6. Thread the piston valve into the end of the piston and tighten.
