Port Events

The port’s traffic surpasses the Traffic-Threshold for
that port (provided this item is Enabled).
Traffic-Threshold (%)
Enter a non-zero number if the port’s
Traffic-Overload item is Enabled.
Traffic-Duration (sec.)
A Traffic-Overload warning is sent every
Traffic-Duration
seconds if the average
Traffic-Threshold is surpassed during that time
period.

Port Event items
are related. If you Enable the Traffic-Overload event, then be sure to enter a non-zero
Traffic-Threshold percentage, as well as a Traffic-Duration between 1 and 300 seconds.
Override relay alarm settings
Select this option to override the relay warning setting temporarily. Releasing the relay output will
allow administrators to fix any problems with the warning condition.

Using Line-Swap-Fast-Recovery
The Line-Swap Fast Recovery function, which is enabled by default, allows EDS-518A to return
to normal operation extremely quickly after devices are unplugged and then re-plugged into
different ports. The recovery time is on the order of a few milliseconds (compare this with
standard commercial switches for which the recovery time could be on the order of several
minutes). To disable the Line-Swap Fast Recovery function, or to re-enable the function after it
has already been disabled, access either the Console utility’s
Line-Swap recovery
page, or the
Web Browser interface’s
Line-Swap fast recovery
page, as the following figure shows:
