Recovery Environment
The recovery environment includes the DA-681-LX embedded computer and a bootable USB disk with the
recovery programs and system image file.
Recovery Procedure
1.
Format an Empty USB Disk.
a.
Prepare a USB disk that has at least a 256 MB capacity.
b.
Format your USB disk with the
HP USB Disk Format Tool
. Open the utility and select the device and
FAT file system. You need empty disk only. DO NOT check the option
Create a DOS startup disk
.
c.
Click
Start
.
ATTENTION
The HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool can be downloaded from many web sites. Do a search on HP USB Disk
Storage Format Tool from any search engine to locate the tool.
2.
Create a Linux Bootable USB Disk.
a.
You can find the
firmware
directory in the Recovery CD shipped with the DA-681-LX computer.
b.
Configure Windows Explorer to show hidden files (including protected operating system files).
c.
Copy all files in the
firmware
directory to the root directory of your USB disk.
d.
Open a DOS prompt and type
M:\syslinux.exe M:
to create a bootable Linux disk. In this example, M:
is the USB Disk drive number.
3.
Set up the BIOS to Boot from a USB Disk.
a.
Insert the USB disk.
