Copying Call List Entries between Data Files
A feature in the Organizer makes it possible for you to copy Call
List entries from one Call List file to several other Call List Data
files if necessary. For the purpose of this example, you will copy
the entries from the same Call List file you used in the previous
task. You will need a spare backup Call List Data file to copy the
entries to. (Refer to page 16 for help on creating a backup Call
List Data file.)
1.
Double-click on the Call List folder in the tree view to open
the folder.
2.
Click (
do not double-click
) on Phone List in the tree view. The
two entries from the previous example will be displayed in
the content view.
3.
Click and drag the cursor across the two entries in the con-
tent view to highlight them.
4.
From the Edit menu, choose Copy. The highlighted entries
will be copied to the clipboard. The clipboard is a temporary
storage area in the computer’s memory for items that you cut
or copy.
TIP:
Organizer copy and paste operations will function only
under certain circumstances. For details, refer to the “Copy and
Paste Operations” topic in the online help.
TIP:
To copy an entire call list, highlight the desired type of
Call List in the tree view (Talkgroup, for example) by clicking on
it. Then click the Copy button on the toolbar. This button is
shown at the top of this page.
5.
From the File menu, choose Open. Locate the spare backup
Call List Data file and double-click on the file name to open
it.
6.
When the file is opened, double-click on the Call List folder
in the tree view. Click (
do not double-click
) on Phone List.

Note: If you highlight multiple cells before pasting, the number of rows
and columns of the copied cells must match those of the highlighted selec-
tion. If you paste the new entries over existing entries, the old entries will
be erased.
