ASSeMBlY OF MORSØ 4500/5000 InSeRt StOVeS
The insert stoves can either be built into an existing open fireplace or placed in an opening in
a wall constructed for the purpose. The assembly instructions can be used in both cases.
As fireplace openings are designed in different ways, the following are principle assembly in-
structions.
) Remove the flue damper of the chimney or lock it in the open position.
) After unpacking, take the smoke plate and the stones out of the stove, and lift the cast iron
insert out of the steel plate section in order to ease the adjustment and positioning of the
steel plate section, without the relatively heavy combustion chamber. In order to avoid any
damages, we recommend that two persons carry out this job.
) It is important that there are a few millimetres of air between the steel plate section and the
surrounding brickwork, as the thermal expansion of the steel plate section can
otherwise cause cracks in the brickwork.
) Align the steel plate section using supporting material, so that the base is horizontal. Please
note that the section should be on the same level as the brickwork (see the sketch). Fasten
the section onto the bottom of the fireplace, using e.g. screws drilled through the bottom
of the section, - cm from the back corners.
5) It may be beneficial to insulate around the steel plate section using 5-50 mm mineral wool,
or similar heat resistant insulation material.
6) A pipe with a diameter of 55 mm should be used to connect the insert with the chimney.
Fasten the pipe to the connecting piece on the flue with the self-tapping screws enclosed
(pre-drill .00 mm diameter), and seal with the glass tape enclosed.
7) Seal between the flue and the bricked chimney using fireproof mortar. Thermal expansion
of the flue may cause cracks to form in the fireproof mortar. This is why it is important to
use a wall bushing and glass tape.
8) If there is no cleaning door in the chimney, as shown in the sketches, it may be an advan-
tage to put one in. This makes it easier to assemble the flue, and in some cases the chim-
ney sweep may demand one.
9) Once the steel plate section is in the correct position, lift the cast iron insert into place, pull
the connecting piece on the flue down into place, and fasten it to the cast iron chamber
using the screws enclosed. The connecting piece on the flue can be tightened from inside
the combustion chamber through the door of the stove.
0) Reassemble the stones and the smoke plate. First, put one set of stones into the stove,
then lay the smoke plate diagonally through the door, and lift it up whilst assembling the
last set of stones.
) Take off the stove door, using the Allen key enclosed to loosen the Allen screws on the inside
of the hinges, before assembling the frame with the M6 button head screws enclosed.
) After assembling the frame, the riddle bar may need adjusting if it touches the frame. The
riddle bar can be adjusted by bending it slightly upwards.
