Brewing Tips
For consistently great-tasting coffee, follow these helpful hints.
• If coffee has been sitting for a period of time, stir coffee in the carafe to evenly
distribute the flavor.
• Coffee that is poured during the brewing cycle may differ in strength from the
finished brew.
• If using a paper filter, rather than the permanent filter, always use a new filter for
each brew.
• Store unopened coffee grounds in a tightly sealed container in a dark, cool, dry
place to avoid rancidity.
• When grounds are cooled, remove and discard. Grounds that are left in the unit
while a pot of coffee is left on the warming plate can give the coffee a bitter taste.
• Purchase coffee beans and grind them at home for optimum flavor.
• Reheating brewed coffee or reusing coffee grounds will result in a less flavorful
coffee and is not recommended.
• Using fresh, cold water will bring out the best taste of the coffee.
• Cleaning your coffeemaker on a regular basis is recommended. The use of
heavily roasted coffee can leave oily residue on the inner workings of the
coffeemaker and inside the carafe.
• For iced coffee, brew the coffee with twice the normal amount of grounds to
avoid melted ice diluting the flavor of the coffee. Otherwise, make and use ice
cubes out of coffee.
