If the reception is poor or if no RDS information
is transmitted,

will flash on the display. Use the
button AF / REG (7) to switch the function off (
AF
is
extinguished) and on again.
Some stations temporarily broadcast a dif-
ferent programme depending on the region, e. g.
regional news. To prevent the unit, in case of
poor reception, from changing to an alternative
frequency that offers a different regional pro-
gramme, activate the regional programme
mode: When the function “alternative frequen-
cies” is switched on, keep the button AF / REG
pressed for approx. 3 seconds until
is briefly displayed. When the mode is activated,
REG
is displayed. To deactivate the mode, keep
the button AF / REG pressed again for 3 seconds
until
is briefly displayed (
REG
is extin-
guished).
Programme type
Use the button PTY (8) to select one of the
stored stations that currently broadcasts music
or information of a special category. The follow-
ing categories can be selected:
1) Use the button PTY (8) to switch on the func-
tion “programme type”. Thus, a more detailed
selection from the music group is possible. A
category of this group is displayed. To switch
to the word group, press the button PTY
again. A category of the word group is dis-
played. (Pressing the button for a third time
will switch off the function “programme type”.)
2) Press the corresponding number button
(repeatedly) to select the desired category
from the group chosen before. Among the
stored stations, the unit searches for the sta-
tion that currently broadcasts a programme in
the selected category. During searching, the
sound is switched off.
If the unit cannot find a station with the
desired category, the message
will start to flash on the display after some
time and the unit will go to the station most
recently tuned.
3) To switch off the function “programme type”
and to be able to call the stored stations again
with the corresponding station buttons, press
the button PTY once or twice so that the sta-
tion frequency or the station name is dis-
played.
