3 Applications
This CD player has especially been designed for
applications in PA systems. It can e. g. be used
for playing background music and is equipped
with a 6-fold CD magazine for uninterrupted
music replay.
It is possible to replay audio CDs, CDs you
have burnt yourself (audio CD-R), and CDs with
titles in the MP3 format and WMA format. How-
ever, problems may occur when playing re
-
writable CDs (CD-RW), depending on the type of
CD, the CD burner and the burning software
used.
4 Placing and
Connecting the CD Player
The PA-2460CD is provided for mounting into a
rack for units with a width of 482 mm (19″) but it
can also be used as a tabletop unit. For rack
installation 2 rack spaces (rs) are required =
89 mm.
Prior to the connection of units or changing exist-
ing connections switch off the CD player and the
units to be connected.
1) For connection to the following unit (e. g.
amplifier, mixer) different connection possi-
bilities for the audio output are available at
the CD player:
1. coaxial digital output (26)
2. optical digital output (27)
3. analogue stereo output via the RCA jacks
(28)
4. analogue stereo output via the XLR con-
nections (29)
5. analogue mono output via the XLR con-
nection (30)
Connect the matching output to the audio
input of the following unit.
2) For continuous operation of the CD player in
case of power failure connect a 24 V emer-
gency power supply unit (e. g. PA-24ESP
from MONACOR) to the screw terminals DC
INPUT (25).
3) For remote control of the CD player via a
computer, connect the computer to the jack
RS-232C IN (31). See chapter 6. For remote
control of another unit, connect this unit to the
jack RS-232C OUT.
4) Finally connect the supplied mains cable to
the mains jack (24) first and then to a mains
socket (230 V~ / 50 Hz).
5 Operation
5.1 Switching on and off
1) Switch on the unit with the POWER switch
(11). The indication STAND-BY (12) disap-
pears and the display (19) shortly shows the
version number of the firmware.
2) The CD player searches in the magazine (22)
for the first CD inserted. If at least one CD is
in the magazine, the replay starts automati-
cally. If the display shows “NO MAGAZINE”,
the magazine has not been inserted.
3) After operation switch off the CD player with
the POWER button. However, it is not com-
pletely switched off but in stand-by mode (the
indication STAND-BY lights up) and has a
low power consumption.
5.2 Inserting CDs into the magazine
G
The magazine (22) is only suitable for stand -
ard CDs (
∅
12 cm). Single CDs (
∅
8 cm) can-
not be inserted.
G
Carefully handle the magazine. Do not drop it
and do not expose it to direct sunlight. Protect
it against high temperatures. Petrol, thinner
or other chemicals containing solvents attack
the magazine.
1) Open the sliding door (13) to the right so that
the magazine compartment is accessible.
2) To eject the magazine, press the button
EJECT (21). For this purpose, the CD player
must be switched on.
3) Insert up to six CDs into the magazine. For
this purpose, pull out the desired CD tray
from the magazine with the corresponding
handle (23). Insert the CD with the lettering
showing upwards and push the tray back into
the magazine.
4) Insert the magazine in direction of the arrow
(also see fig. 4) into the compartment until it
locks into place. Close the sliding door of the
compartment so that it is protected against
dust.

tion “Check disc …”) and starts the replay.
5.3 Remote control
To insert or change the battery, on the rear side
of the remote control push the small bar with the

A 3 V button cell of type CR2025 is required.
When inserting, make sure that the positive pole
of the button cell shows upwards.
If the remote control is not used for a longer
period of time, remove the battery so that the
remote control will not be damaged if the battery
should leak.
When actuating a button, always hold the remote
control in the direction of the sensor (2). There
must be no obstacles between the remote con-
trol and the sensor.
